Gary Hewlett Photography is happy to announce a new initiative to help
families that
are looking for a portrait photographer. They have decided
to abolish their $350
sitting fee that has been, for years, the
cornerstone of the family portrait
photography industry.
Gary Hewlett, founder and principal photographer with
Gary Hewlett Photography,
said upon announcing the new initiative “The sitting fee
has been around since the
days of film, and was designed to cover the
photographer’s costs in the event that
the client was unhappy with the
pictures that the photographer took for them. It
was also designed to
pay a proportion of the running costs of owning a studio”
“Three factors have led us to decide to get rid of the
sitting fee at Gary Hewlett
Photography – firstly, we no longer shoot film and so we
do not have that cost.
Secondly we have never had a client who was
unhappy with their pictures, and
thirdly Gary Hewlett Photography shoots exclusively
on location so we do not have a
studio to pay for. We therefore see no
need to impose this outdated charge, which
we now see as a tax on our
clients.”
“We want to pioneer a new standard of charging for
portrait photography clients”
concluded Gary, who is also National
Portrait Photography Director for the NZIPP
(New Zealand Institute of
Professional Photography). “I believe that Gary Hewlett
Photography clients should
only have to part with money if they are truly delighted
with our work,
and we are confident enough in our images to remove the archaic
safety
net of the sitting fee.” |
